New Project

This weekend has been fairly productive. I finished spinning the green and yellow fiber which I dyed up about six months ago. I then plied it into a two ply yarn, with a couple of yards of Navajo ply because of the differences in the fibers on each bobbin. I think I will make the Forest Canopy Shawl with this. I think the colors will work very nicely with the pattern. I have 581 yards which should be plenty.


The other project for the weekend is the continuation of the silk challenge. But, it is taking a while to do each repeat, so I thought I would start something new. I started a baby sweater for the new baby. It is going into a grab bag for the kids when the baby comes. I am making it with one strand of Opal and a strand of baby yarn that has been sitting in the stash for quite some time. I like how it is coming out and think it will look good on a wee little baby boy.

I am trying to come up with projects to knit which will use up some of the stash yarn and handspun yarns hanging out in the bins. With the magazines I bought last week, I have a number of things in the ever growing list of things to make now.

New Baby Project

I know I have too many WIPs, but I just couldn't resist casting on for Kendra's baby's sweater. The baby is now three weeks old and I only have eight inches of the hood done. Granted, I did start this while waiting for R to get out of surgery Monday. I have been trying to be diligent about working on this sweater daily, even if it is only a row or two. And I feel like I have to hurry with it, because there is a sock class on Saturday and I could easily get side-tracked.

I picked up the pattern for the sock class today. I think it will be fun. It is one of those socks that has buttons up the side. Can't remember the pattern title, but will post it when I have pictures to show of the socks progress. I haven't decided on the yarn yet either. I guess I need to spend some time with the sock yarn to see which, from the stash, would be the best to use. I don't think I need to buy any more sock yarn, but I have some winging it's way here now.

Remember Judy, who was going to try my wheel? Lyn said that Judy has ordered her Lendrum! I hope she will be as happy with her Lendrum as I am with mine. Speaking of wheels, I have been spinning on the Hitchiker. I am on my second eight ounces of Knowlton's dark brown wool roving. Now I just need to do some plying, so I can have some free bobbins.

First snow, New project

This is the snow, although it looks like rain, which came down on Saturday. It was very wet and didn't stay for very long. We did end up with a white yard for a few hours though.

Much spinning was accomplished this weekend. I got just about two bobbins spun from the kool-aid dyed fiber. C has already claimed something from this! I asked him if he would get teased about it, because it was pink. And he said he didn't care, he liked the color!


I also started a new project, again! It is Mr. Greenjean.
I even had yarn in the stash which I am using! I thought the gauge would be off, because it always is, but I am right on according to last nights count. That doesn't happen very often!

This week will be really busy with work and A-g's wedding on Friday. I probably won't get much spinning done.
