C's Found a Friend

I love this picture which was taken on Thanksgiving. We went to ES' sister's house for the afternoon. They have a couple of birds that C fell in love with. After we had been there for a couple of hours the birds decided we could hold them. Jewell found her favorite spot on C and kept migrating back there whenever she was moved. The best spot in her opinion, the spot between the collar of his shirt and his neck. C now says he wants a bird like Jewell.

There is lots of Christmas knitting going on here. Things are being blocked and readied to be shipped to their destinations. After Christmas, I will have lots of pictures to share.

Happy knitting and spinning.

Boys do love birds don't they ;). My parakeet has still to warm up to me, he's still a bit edgey, hopefully by this spring he won't be so scared of me. But he's 8 years old so his habits are engrained in him. Get him a parakeet to see if he will take care of a bird first, they are kinda messy and you have to clean up after them ;). Parakeets can learn to talk (just don't teach them to whistle first) and if you get them when they are young, they are quite friendly :).

I have a friend with one and I held it out away from me on my finger and told it "Go poop." And it did! I learned it went about every 40 min and if I told it that when it wasn't ready, it tried, clearly. But it also meant that when we paid attention to it, we could make it so nobody got pooped directly on. I had no idea before that that any bird could be that--well, responsive and intelligent. (This was nearly 20 years ago.)
